Shri Sushilkumar Shinde Commissions 490 MW unit of NTPC-Dadri taking NTPC’s total installed capacity

NTPC has been consistently adding capacity to the grid and contributing to the national objective of Power for All said Shri Sushilkumar Shinde commissioning the 490 MW Unit V1 of Dadri project today. With this addition NTPC has crossed the 32000 MW landmark in capacity addition. Shri Shinde congratulated team NTPC for the achievement and contributing well in time towards powering of Commonwealth Games (CWG) an event of National pride. NTPC has now added 980 MW from Dadri stage II for meeting power requirements of CWG.

Shri P. Uma Shankar, Secretary (Power) in his address appreciated the project management capabilities of NTPC. Shri R.S. Sharma, CMD NTPC informed that the 490 MW unit -6 of Dadri had been declared commercial in record time. Top management team of NTPC was present on the occasion.

Power generated from NTPC Dadri's Stage –II will be supplied to Delhi (90%) and Uttar Pradesh (10 %). NTPC- Dadri is country's only project having coal and gas based project with total installed capacity of of 2637 MW from Coal Based Project consisting of stage I, 840 MW (210 x 4 ) and stage II ,980 MW (490MW X 2) and a 817 MW Gas based station.

NTPC has presently over 17,000 MW capacity under construction at 17 locations and plans to become a 75 GW company by 2017.
